Apple announces March 8 ‘Peek peek’ event
Apple has set March 8 for its first special event of the year. “Peek performance” is Apple’s tagline for this event. It’s expected to be a virtual event focusing on a third-generation iPhone SE, a redesigned iPad Air, and new Apple Silicon-powered Macs.
Apple Event on March 8
Bloomberg originally revealed Apple’s plans for a March 8 event in early February. Apple has officially made the event official, sending press invites. Apple has postponed their spring event for the second year in a row owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Event starts at 10 a.m. PDT/1 pm ET on March 8. You can watch it on Apple’s website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. On event day, we’ll provide further details on how to view the event.
Apple is said to be planning three hardware announcements for its March 8 event.
First, a new iPhone SE 3 is rumoured. The gadget will purportedly look like the current iPhone SE, but will include the new A15 Bionic CPU and 5G connectivity. Analysts believe a low-cost iPhone SE could be appealing to Android switchers.
a new iPad Air 5 is also in the works. This gadget replaces the iPad Air, which was unveiled in October 2020. The latest model should have an A15 Bionic chip, 5G connection, and a 12MP ultra-wide front camera with Center Stage compatibility.
A new Mac powered by Apple Silicon is also anticipated for the March 8 event. While details are scarce, a new entry-level MacBook Pro and a more powerful Mac mini with M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs are plausible contenders for a March unveiling.
Apple is still beta testing iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3, tvOS and HomePod Software 15.4, and watchOS 8.5. Updates include support for Face ID while wearing a mask and Universal Control. Apple is expected to announce these improvements in the first half of March, so expect additional details on March 8.
