Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the first-person shooter video game by Sledgehammer Games and Activision, was fully released on November 10, 2023. It marks the twentieth installment in the Call of Duty series and serves as the third chapter in the revamped Modern Warfare series. Following the events of 2022’s Modern Warfare II, the game’s storyline revolves around the multinational special operations unit Task Force 141 as they pursue the Russian ultranationalist and terrorist Vladimir Makarov, who plans to instigate a third World War.
The game, available on platforms such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, maintains the realistic, modern setting of its predecessors. In addition to its engaging single-player campaign, Modern Warfare III introduces a multiplayer mode with remastered maps from the 2009 release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and includes a Zombies mode, a first for the Modern Warfare series.
Sledgehammer Games initially set out to develop an expansion pack for Modern Warfare II but, as the project progressed, Activision decided to turn it into a standalone entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Leveraging the 9.0 version of the IW engine, Sledgehammer Games crafted the game’s mechanics and graphics.
Notably, Treyarch, renowned for the Call of Duty: Black Ops series, collaborated in developing the Zombies mode. Following leaks in early to mid 2023, the game was officially unveiled in August 2023, with a showcase event and a public beta occurring in October. While some platforms categorize it as a DLC expansion of Modern Warfare II, it doesn’t feature a Platinum Trophy on PlayStation 5.
Best Weapons For Beginners in Modern Warfare 3
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there’s a mix of old weapons from MW2 and lots of new ones, giving players plenty of choices for the best guns. While it’s good to pick what feels right for how you play, many still go for what’s popular in the game. Especially when starting out, you’ll aim for the top weapons to keep up with others.
Whether you’re battling zombies or playing multiplayer, the best guns in Call of Duty need to be fast to aim, shoot quickly, and cause a lot of damage. Plus, the health of players has gone up from 100 to 150 points. So, making every shot count is super important in Modern Warfare 3, whether you’re taking on zombies or other players in the game. The best weapons for beginners in Modern Warfare 3 are as follows.
1. MCW: The All-Rounder
The MCW reigns supreme as the ultimate weapon for beginners in Modern Warfare 3. This assault rifle, reminiscent of the ACR from previous editions, boasts balanced performance across all categories. While unlocking it at rank 44 might take time, its versatility and overall effectiveness make it a coveted choice once fully equipped.
2. BAS-B: Versatile Long-Range Dominance
Introduced as a new battle rifle, the BAS-B offers novices versatility in combat. With the ability to switch between semi-auto and full-auto modes, it thrives in both medium and long-range engagements. Its adaptability allows for various configurations and playstyles, making it a formidable choice for beginners aiming for long-ranged dominance.
3. SVA 545 – High Damage & Range AR
Accessible early in the game, the SVA 545 packs considerable punch with its high damage output and range. While it demands some handling due to recoil, as attachments are added, it becomes a potent choice for delivering substantial damage.
4. MTZ-556 – Low Recoil & Fire Rate AR
Known for its manageable recoil and swift aim-down-sight speed, the MTZ-556 offers an enjoyable gameplay experience. Depending on playstyle and preferences, it remains a reliable choice and is often a transition weapon for many players.
5. Striker: Close-Range Dominance
The Striker, a dominant weapon from previous iterations, remains a force to be reckoned with at close and medium ranges. Accessible as early as rank four, this shotgun-SMG hybrid excels in close-quarters combat, evolving into a more enjoyable weapon as attachments enhance its capabilities.
6. Longbow – Time For Some Quickscopes
Unconventional for a sniper rifle due to its bolt-action style, the Longbow offers beginners a different sniping experience. Suitable for those aiming to learn sniping or quick-scoping, it presents an alternative choice in the realm of sniper rifles.
7. Rival-9: Swift Close-Quarters Combat
Ideal for close-quarters engagements, the Rival-9, a high-fire-rate SMG exclusive to MW3, thrives in smaller maps. Its swift firing rate makes it a perfect companion for aggressive playstyles, although frequent reloading might be necessary until upgrades unlock.
8. Lockwood 300: Specialized Shotgun
The Lockwood 300, equipped with the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment, stands out as a specialized shotgun option. This fan-favorite weapon allows for one-shot kills, appealing to players favoring a more unconventional yet powerful choice. These weapons offer varied playstyles and cater to different situations in Modern Warfare 3, providing beginners with a range of options to suit their preferences as they venture into the game.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay
Modern Warfare III will play a lot like its predecessor and other Call of Duty games. It brings back features like slide canceling. The campaign offers both linear missions and ‘Open Combat Missions,’ giving players more freedom in how they tackle objectives. In multiplayer, there will be all sixteen maps from Modern Warfare 2 at launch.
Players can vote for maps in lobbies, and there will be a bit more health for a longer time to kill. The ‘red dot’ minimap is back, allowing players to spot enemies on their radar when they shoot without a suppressor. Classic modes like ‘Kill Confirmed’ and ‘Hardpoint’ are returning, along with a new mode called ‘Cutthroat.’ Ground War and War mode are making a comeback too.
The game will also have a new open-world PvE Zombies mode. Developed by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games, it’s different from the old round-based survival style. Up to 24 players will team up on a big map called Urzikstan. They’ll face off against zombies and AI-controlled enemies, completing objectives, collecting loot, and extracting items.
Instead of rounds, the map is divided into ‘zones’ with varying difficulty levels. After 45 minutes, an ‘Aether Storm’ starts, giving players 15 minutes to get out with their loot. This can be carried into the next match. It includes familiar elements like weapon purchases, special drinks, and mystery boxes. Story quests will also be part of the mode, advancing the narrative.
