Black Panther Cast Visited Chadwick Boseman’s Resting Place

Angela Bassett recently recalled the “beautiful day” she and the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” cast shared ahead of filming. During an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Nov. 7, the 64-year-old actor told host Kelly Clarkson that she and her castmates visited Chadwick Boseman’s resting place in South Carolina before getting to work on the movie.

“The producers and directors had rented a plane and we all flew to South Carolina and we went to visit together his resting place,” Bassett said. “It was a beautiful day. His uncles were there, his cousin, and we just spoke from our heart about him, how we felt about him, or times with him. That was really, really lovely. A great way to just begin because we miss him terribly.”

She continued, “And then when we got to the set, it’s like ‘OK, we’ve had this moment of coming together and now we’ve got to work and that’s what he would want for us.”

Boseman famously played King T’Challa in “Black Panther.” Following his death on Aug. 28, 2020 (the actor died from colon cancer at age 43), Marvel confirmed Boseman would not be replaced with another actor in the sequel film.

Ahead of the movie’s Nov. 11 release, Rihanna debuted a new song titled “Lift Me Up,” which was “written as a tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy of Chadwick Boseman” and is featured on the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.
