Fans are proud as Lisa of BLACKPINK, who made her official solo debut last year, makes history yet again. This time the successful soloist has bagged an MTV Europe Music Award. Prior to this, Lisa had become the first K-Pop soloist to win at MTV Video Music Awards.
Lisa thanked her followers in a pre-recorded video even though she was unable to attend the ceremony in person to accept her award.
“I’m so honored to have won the EMA for Best K-Pop this year,” she began. “Your support for LALISA and our new album means the world to me. Enjoy the rest of the night and hope to see you at one of our shows on the ‘Born Pink’ tour,” Lisa continued.
The K-pop girl group BLACKPINK already won the award for Best Metaverse Performance earlier in the ceremony, so technically this was their second victory of the evening. BLACKPINK had earlier also won an MTV VMA for Ready For Love – Best Metaverse Performance.
With both her lead single and b-side as well as the album breaking and setting multiple new records, Lisa made one of the most successful debuts in K-pop history. Lalisa set a record for the highest first-day album sales by a female K-pop soloist (330,129), a mark that has not been surpassed even more than a year later. In the first 24 hours after its release on YouTube, her lead song, Lalisa, had 73.6 million views. With 550M streams, her b-side money is presently the K-pop soloist single with the most streams on Spotify.
Lisa also recently became the fastest K-Pop soloist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. Her debut single album Lalisa is currently the most streamed k-Pop soloist album, while only having two songs.
