iPhone SE 3: Price, Release dates, Design, Specifications, and More

iPhone SE 3: Price, Release dates, Design, Specifications, and More

With Apple’s March event just a week away on March 8, an iPhone SE 3 (or even an iPhone SE 2022) appears to be a foregone conclusion. This is partly due to the time matching expectations, and partly due to the fact that the date had already been disclosed.

The iPhone SE 3 won’t be called that when it launches; instead, it’ll most likely follow the iPhone SE (2020)’s naming policy, which includes the year of release in the title, so maybe we’ll see the iPhone SE 3 after all (2022). However, according to a new leak, it could be called the iPhone SE Plus 5G.

However, while the name is a little hazy, some of the specs and features are starting to become clearer, thanks to a slew of leaks and rumours about the next phone, with more on the way. We’ve compiled them all below, and we’ll keep this article updated when new information becomes available.

At this time, all rumours point to a 2022 release, with insiders speculating that the phone would arrive in the first part of the year, with one source going so far as to say it will arrive by the end of March. That appears to be the case, given that the March launch event is on March 8th.

Other leaks have suggested March or April, anytime in spring (which in the United States means March to May), or possibly the second half of April or early May. The most recent and possibly most reliable rumour, on the other hand, claims that the iPhone SE 3 will be unveiled alongside the iPad Air on March 8, 2022.

We’ve also seen an unknown iPhone, maybe the iPhone SE 3, is authorised by the Eurasian Economic Commission – something that usually happens near launch – and the phone has even been placed on a retailer’s test page.

Trial production is also reportedly scheduled to begin (as of December 2021), implying that it will be here shortly. However, we’ve heard that the iPhone SE 3 may be delayed until 2024, so there may be a long wait ahead.

There’s also the iPhone SE Plus to take into account. While we haven’t heard much about it recently, Ming-Chi Kuo (an analyst with a strong track record when it comes to Apple) claimed back in April 2020 that the iPhone SE Plus wouldn’t arrive until 2022. So it’s possible that this may be released instead of the iPhone SE 3 – or that an iPhone SE 3 and an iPhone SE 3 Plus will be released. At this moment, it’s difficult to say.

In terms of price, the iPhone SE (2020) starts at $399 / £419 / AU$749, so the iPhone SE 3 is expected to be priced similarly – Apple rarely changes its pricing between iterations.

According to one expert, the iPhone SE 3 could cost $300 in the United States, a 25% discount, but this has yet to be confirmed. It would undoubtedly help the future handset compete more effectively against low-cost Android handsets.

The greatest iPhone SE 3 leak so yet has disclosed a number of likely specifications, including that it would look similar to its predecessor, with a bezel-heavy design and 4.7-inch LCD screen.

We’ve also heard that it could sport a 4.7-inch LCD screen, so that appears to be a possibility. A third source has now chimed in, claiming that the design and screen size will not change with the next refresh.

However, according to another report, it will have a 5.7-6.1-inch LCD screen. This is something we’ve heard several times already, and it could come with a new name: the iPhone SE Plus 5G. As a result, we’re not sure which option is correct. It’s feasible that we’ll get both phones at some point.

Apple is rumoured to be working on bringing Face ID to a future iPhone SE generation. That would very certainly necessitate a significant design modification, with the home button being replaced by a notch. However, given that the reports above suggest that the iPhone SE 3 would have a similar appearance, this update may be delayed (if it happens at all).

In fact, one source said that an iPhone 11-style design was in the works, only to retract and say that Apple had decided to remain with the iPhone 8-style design for 2022. According to the insider, Apple intends to give the iPhone SE the same design as the iPhone 11. (2024).

According to a huge leak, the iPhone SE 3 will have an A15 Bionic chipset (the same as the iPhone 13 series) and enable 5G, and it will have 3GB of RAM like its predecessor.

Another source agrees, claiming that an A15 chipset and 5G will be included, and a third source also claims that 5G will be included, making the update very plausible. A leak also claims that, like its predecessor, it will contain 3GB of RAM. As a result, the feature may not be improved.

Another claim confirms everything above, but adds that the iPhone SE 3 will keep the same 12MP camera as the iPhone SE (2020), but with a new sensor.
