After being diagnosed with leukemia in 2008, Abdul-Jabbar stated on Twitter in February 2011 that he was “100% cancer-free.” He eventually addressed his mistake a few days later. “I should have understood that you’re never truly cancer-free,” Abdul-Jabbar stated. “Right now, my cancer is at a bare minimum.” Abdul-Jabbar was brought to the hospital in April 2015 after being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, although he later had surgery.
