Synopsis and Plot Summary
A story that follows a socialite detective who keeps running into police inspector Luo Qiuheng as she intervenes in different cases. After repeated interactions, the two come to form a team with their relationship growing from that of mutual respect to romance.
During the 1930’s, Shanghai socialite Su Wenli (Ma Yili) who studied and travelled in Europe for several years returns to China. The very next day, she is invited to a luncheon at Ma Minlan’s house. Alas, Ma Minlan’s husband Hu Yunlang falls and dies in the bathroom that very morning. Police inspector Luo Qiuheng (Vengo Gao) determines that Hu Yunlang has died of arsenic poisoning which is why the housemaid Xiao Taozi (Bu Guanjin) is taken away for investigation. Even though Xiao Taozi is eventually cleared of all suspicion, she is still fired from her job.
Su Wenlin finds Xiao Taozi to be quite clever so she takes her in as maid. Where there are deaths, there is Su Wenli, so it’s no longer puzzling for Luo Qiuheng to run into her time and again. Sure enough, he becomes impressed with Su Wenli’s aptitude and insight as they team up to crack a series of bizarre cases.
