Twinkling Watermelon Episode 16 Recap and Review: Tying the Knots With a Fulfilling Finale

Twinkling Watermelon Episode 16 is the finale and a fitting end to the beautiful journey. However, there are a lot of instances that answer a lot of questions that have kept everyone wondering. The episode premiered on November 14, 2023, on tvN network.

The K-drama Twinkling Watermelon or Sparkling Watermelon (반짝이는 워터멜론) is directed by Son Jong-hyun and written by Jin Soo-Wan. Ryeoun, Choi Hyun-wook, Seol In-ah and Shin Eun-soo will be appearing in the lead roles for the show. The show is expected to have a total of 16 episodes with a runtime of approximately 60 minutes each.

A 15.6 billion won production and supply agreement for the show was signed by production companies Pan Entertainment and Studio Dragon on September 5, 2023. The show takes over tvN’s Monday & Tuesday 8:50 time slot previously occupied by My Lovely Liar.

Sparkling Watermelon episode 15 starts by showing Im Ji-mi’s son furious as he fails to live up to the expectations of his mother. The constant bickering drives him towards madness and his anger towards Eun-gyeol increases. When he sees Eun-gyeol on the street, he drives the car towards him but Yi-chan pushes him out of the way and gets in an accident instead. Around the same time Eun-yoo also appears and notes down the number of the car.

Yi-chan is taken to the hospital where he lies unconscious. Eun-yoo meets up with her grandfather and asks him to reconcile with her mother, Se-kyung when he still has time. The incident deeply disturbs her and she decides that she will no longer meddle in someone else’s lives and leave the place as soon as possible.

In the hospital, Eun-gyeol finds out that Yoon Joo-yeob is responsible for the accident and he rushes to the police station to confront him. On the other hand, the relationship between Cheong-ah and her father drastically improves. The chairman finds out about the accident and takes responsibility for paying the bills for the hospital and his tuition fees. Ji-im tries to flee from the country but the police arrive on time to stop her from leaving.

Both Eun-gyeol and Eun-yoo get a call from the handler and he says that the time to leave is coming closer. As Eun-yoo packs her bag, she finds her mother breaking stuff in the other room. She asks Se-kyung to be brave and praises her qualities as a mother. Se-kyung gets confused by the situation and leaves instantly.

Eun-gyeol meets up with Viva grandpa for one last time before leaving and asks him to reconcile with his daughter. He then goes to Yi-chan and says that he needs to leave soon. Yi-chan loses his ability to hear which causes a lot of concern between the both but he bids Eun-gyeol goodbye and asks him not to worry about the future.

Eun-gyeol arrives at the shop and he is taken back to 2023. He is surprised as he realises that his band has become extremely successful. He also meets with his mother who has now become one of the most successful business woman. Lastly, he sees his father on the stage celebrating the success of his guitar department store. His father comes across the song that he composed for him and realises that Eun-gyeol is the one from his past.

Eun-gyeol starts to perform on stage with his band when he suddenly sees a glimpse of Eun-yoo. He follows her and they both finally get united again. They both share a romantic kiss and the episode ends on that note.
