The Korean historical movie “Suunjapbang” (“수운잡방”), scheduled for release in December, has announced its main cast members. This main cast lineup includes ASTRO’s Yoon Sanha, Kim Kang Min, and Baek Sung Hyun. This upcoming movie, directed by Choi Yeon Soo, will be ASTRO’s Sanha’s first appearance in a Korean historical film.

This captivating movie follows the journey of Kim Yu, a determined exam retaker who crosses paths with the reputed top chef of Joseon. Together, they embark on a quest to discover Kim Yu’s true purpose in life, blending historical elements with creative storytelling.

Korean Movie “Suunjapbang” (“수운잡방”)

The upcoming movie “Suunjapbang” narrates the life of Kim Yu. He is a nobleman from the Joseon Dynasty who wrote the renowned recipe book “Suunjapbang.” While preparing for the national civil service exam, Kim Yu encounters Gye Am, a self-proclaimed master chef in Joseon. This encounter sets him off on a quest to discover his true passion in the gastronomic world.

“Suunjapbang” holds significant importance in the Andong Gwangsan Kim clan as an ancestral recipe book. This recipe book is a cherished national treasure of Korea. It contains the oldest Korean manuscript in the country and showcases recipes for 121 types of food and alcohol.

“Suunjapbang” Release Date

The Korean movie “Suunjapbang,” starring ASTRO’s Yoon Sanha, Kim Kang Min, and Baek Sung Hyun, will be pre-released through Wave in December 2023. It will also be available on KBS2 Drama Special and TV Cinema 2023.
