When Carhartt made a daring decision on the latest Supreme Court judgement, they were catapulted into the spotlight. In this case, a company is sticking up for its workers. Despite the Supreme Court’s “shrug emoji” response to the American people’s health and safety, Carhartt opted to uphold the vaccination mandate.
What Happened With Carhartt Today?
“We put workplace safety at the very top of our priority list, and the Supreme Court’s recent verdict does not influence that basic value,” Carhartt CEO Mark Valade wrote in an email to all employees on Friday, Jan. 14. He went on to explain that he believes the medical community’s counsel, which has said unequivocally that immunizations keep people safe. Mark also stated that the unions that represent them had reached a consensus. While this is excellent news for public safety, not everyone supports Carhartt’s move.
Why Is Everyone Hating On Carhartt?
People can obviously choose not to get vaccinated, but corporations are unable to choose whether or not to support a vaccine mandate. It appears to be a little hypocritical, and it is. To no one’s surprise, conservative and Republican figures who believe in “my body, my choice” when it suits them are leading the boycott charge. Videos of people damaging things they believe we should boycott inevitably surface in these situations. These things, as a reminder, have already been paid for and will have no impact on Carhartt.
