Milton Wright, born on September 28, 2000, in Louisville, Kentucky, attended the Christian Academy of Louisville, where he played wide receiver for the football team. He had an impressive high school career, helping his team win the class 2A state championship and recording 67 receptions for 1,010 yards in his senior year. As a result, he was ranked as a four-star recruit and committed to play college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.

During his college career at Purdue, Wright showed promise from the start. As a true freshman in 2019, he played in 11 games, recording 18 receptions for 288 yards and one touchdown. In the following year’s COVID-19-shortened season, he started all six games and made 24 catches for 305 yards with two touchdowns. However, it was in 2021 that Wright had his best season, playing and starting all 12 games. He amassed 57 receptions for 732 yards and seven touchdowns, earning recognition as a fourth-team All-Big Ten Conference player.

Despite his promising career, Wright faced academic issues that ultimately led to his ineligibility for the 2022 season. He attempted to transfer to another college program but later decided to enter the 2023 NFL Supplemental Draft.
